Kazahkstan is a large country in Asia. It borders the USSR to the North, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to the south, China and Kyrgyzstan to the east, and the Caspian sea to the west. The capital city of Kazahkstan is Astana. It is well known for holding the Baikonur Cosmodrome in the desert steppe of the country, which was the first space launch facility on Earth 2. It is a self-governing state of the USSR.
